Since 1950, affordable housing has been central to our mission.  Due to its increasing age and upkeep requirements, the Board of Directors voted in 2006 to rebuild Trevvett Court, one of our three apartments for low-income seniors.  Residents in our apartments qualify as low and very low income according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s guidelines.  With the average age of 79, their lack of financial resources makes them a vulnerable population.  Our Housing Program supports our residents in maintaining quality of life as they experience the changes and challenges of aging.

The cost of housing in Monterey County is among the highest in the country.  The need for affordable housing is growing dramatically, since the percentage of Americans over the age of 65 is growing rapidly and approximately 10 percent of these Americans live in poverty...some of them very close to home.
