Saturday, October 10 (National Chess Day), 9:15 am–3:30 pm, Seideneck Room

Chess players of all ages and skill levels — from novice to grandmaster — are invited to compete in the Carmel Chess Classic! Open to players ages 5 to 105, this tournament features divisions for experienced, developing, unrated, and youth players.

Entry Fee: Free for Carmel Foundation members and K–12 students; $12 for all others.

  • Registration and Check-In: 9:15–10:00 a.m.

  • Rated Sections — Three Rounds: 10:30 a.m. | 1:00 p.m. | 3:30 p.m.

  • Candidates Section — Four Rounds: 10:45 a.m. | 12:15 p.m. | 2:00 p.m. | 3:30 p.m.

An engraved crystal trophy will be awarded to the first-place finisher in each rated section.

Hosted by The Carmel Foundation and sponsored and organized by Chess Monterey. Love chess? The Carmel Foundation Chess Club meets every Thursday from 1-4pm.
