Understanding Alzheimer’s & Dementia (Feb 18)
2:30 pm | Diment Hall | Free Refreshments Served | Open to the public
Confusion around Alzheimer’s and dementia is common — and understanding the difference can make a meaningful difference. This informative program offers a clear, compassionate overview of Alzheimer’s and dementia, including how they differ, common stages, risk factors, current research, and FDA-approved treatment options.
The presentation will be led by Barbara Rhoades, NP, a retired nurse practitioner with many years of experience as the lead provider in a memory evaluation center. Drawing on both her professional background and her current volunteer work as a community educator, advocate, and co-facilitator of a dementia support group in Santa Cruz, Barbara brings knowledge, clarity, and empathy to this important topic.
This program is designed for older adults, family members, caregivers, and anyone interested in learning more in a supportive, easy-to-understand setting. Everyone is welcome!
