Center for Photographic Arts kicks off its month-long celebration with photography series at The Carmel Foundation with Jerry Takigawa!

We’re living in difficult times. Knowing images of negative issues can cause people to look away, I prefer to make aesthetic images to open the heart and mind. I’m reminded of the Japanese ideals and processes of kintsugi and wabi-sabi which celebrate imperfection. Consider the remarkable capacity of the Japanese Americans to create beautiful objects in their bleak concentration camp surroundings, bearing witness to the transcendent and healing power of beauty. Everyone is welcome!
