USS Potomac Sightseeing Cruise with Lunch at Jack London Square in Oakland
Saturday, July 18
$180 | Deadline to sign up: Thursday, May 28
Take a cruise aboard President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s historic floating White House, the USS Potomac (1936–1945). This beautifully restored National Historic Landmark is the only presidential yacht in the United States still operating today.
While cruising on the Potomac, you’ll enjoy picturesque views of the San Francisco skyline and waterfront. We’ll cruise by lighthouses, islands, and under bridges, while you hear about the rich history of surrounding landmarks and the impacts FDR’s post-Depression Era New Deal programs had on the Bay Area. Before boarding, we’ll explore the Visitor Center and watch a short film about the Potomac’s history.
Your three-hour cruise includes a boxed lunch with a turkey, beef, or veggie sandwich, potato salad, fruit, dessert, and coffee, tea, or water.
Important: For your safety, flat-soled shoes are required as the ship has steep stairways, some uneven surfaces, and she is moving over water.
ADA information: The bathrooms onboard have narrow doorways and a small step into them. Fully accessible public bathrooms are available at the dockside, close to the Potomac. Please note that USS Potomac docents and crew are not permitted to provide physical assistance to mobility-impaired individuals.
Depart Crossroads: 8:30 am | Depart Oakland: 4 pm | Return to Carmel: 6:30 pm
